Amefa began in the Netherlands in 1931, when Eugen Hollaender set up a business making razor blades. Facing competition from much bigger names, the company turned to table knives and cutlery, and by the late 1940s cutlery had taken over completely. In the 1970s Eugen’s sons took over the business.
Today Amefa is one of Europe’s largest suppliers of cutlery, kitchen knives and table accessories for homes, hotels and restaurants. It also owns Richardson Sheffield, the well known British knife brand, which it took on in 2007. Most of its cutlery is made from quality stainless steel and is dishwasher safe.
